Kidz Camp 2009
Last weekend, 5th to 7th June, 74 children attended the King’s Church International’s annual Kidz Camp at Chalfont Heights Scout Camp.
This year’s theme was entitled “Live the Dream”. Through the Bible story of Joseph and with the aid of the film ‘Joseph King of Dreams’ the children where taught how God has big plans for their lives, that through trouble God can shape them for great things and the power of forgiveness.
Some children said at the close of the camp:
- God had helped me to forgive those who hurt me and made me cry in bed
- God has taken all the pain away and I can start again and forget the past
- I got to know God better and I have made so many new friends
- God taught me that He can turn the toughest situations around!
On the Saturday night the children enjoyed a fun “Kidz Camp’s got Talent” show with a number of great acts. There were musicians, comedians, singers, dance acts and giant bubbles! The winner was “2 sticks David” aka David Dhanraj who showed off his amazing drumming skills.
Julie Bristow ran the craft tent where the children loved spending hours making wonderful models of what God wants them to do in future years. It’s amazing what you can make out of scrunched up newspaper, tin foil, sticky tape & half a potato – dancers, singers, footballers, preachers, school teachers!
Other activities included sports & soccer, inflatable assault course, Nintendo wii, messy games & quizzes. Meal times where fun and the food was great, a big thank you to Andrea and her hard working team.
Paul & Julie Bristow led the team of 21 committed and talented children’s workers who as usual gave their all.
Although at times the heavens let rip with buckets of rain, at no time were the kids or workers deterred from having maximum quantities of fun. In fact it was quite amazing how God answered our prayers concerning the weather and the sun shone just at the right times!
