It's Good to Talk, Church by Phone
Due to the severe weather conditions we have been experiencing, our Sunday services were cancelled on Sunday 10th January. Our venue, The Windsor Boys' School, had been closed all week for health and safety reasons. In order to make ‘the most of every opportunity' as the apostle Paul says in Ephesians 5:16, Pastor Wes initiated ‘Church by Phone.'
The aim was to have a Sunday talk delivered over the phone to all members of the church, delivered by the cell group leader.
The brief message was from Jeremiah 29:11 & 13: for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Verse 13 adds: You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Firstly, everyone was reminded that, ‘God is personally interested in you. God loves you and knows you by name. He has not forgotten you. You are precious to Him.' Secondly, people were told that ‘God has good plans for you. Like the Israelites who were captive in Babylon, you may have had a difficult past. But you have a future where you will discover the favour and blessing of God.' All were encouraged that ‘God's goodness will always follows His children.' Thirdly, ‘God responds to us when we really pray. We can have a new encounter with God every day when we ‘seek God with all our heart.'
Following the brief talk, people were prayed for. The average phone call lasted 5-15 minutes.
Hundreds of phone calls were made, messages were left, texts were sent and people were blessed!
