400 Kids Get A Warm Jacket for Winter
Robertson, South Africa. More than 400 kids were given a warm jacket to help keep them warm through the winter on Sunday 30th May 2010.The Western Cape can be cold and many children live in basic accommodation on remote farms. For the third year running children who attend the weekly Kidz Church (Kinder Kerk) at KCI Robertson were given clothing. Last year, the kids received a warm hoodie top, this year they received a warm fleece lined jacket with hood.
The jackets were made possible by the generous giving of members of both King's Church International in the UK and in South Africa. Each jacket cost £8 and were hand made by a local business.
Kidz Church leader Lizelle le Roux said, ‘Sunday was certainly one of the biggest highlights in Kidz Church history.'
‘The service was well attended on such a cold winter's morning and we clicked 417 children in! We wish you could have seen some of the clothing some of the children were wearing on such a cold morning - I just couldn't wait to start handing out the jackets.'
‘The handing out of the jackets were very orderly this year. We had tables outside and the regular attendees (according to registration records) were first in line to receive the tops. The children were so overwhelmed, and most of them astonished.'
‘Thank you KCI for making this happen. These jackets are top quality
‘So many people from the congregation were part of the handing out of the tops. It was such a privilege to be a part in the event. I wish you all were here to see the faces and reactions and to have the opportunity to put a brand new jackets on those little cold bodies.'
‘Thank you! Thank you!'
